Our History
A Vision Born in Prayer
Samdan Baptist Church began with a divine calling — a vision placed upon the heart of our founding leader after years of deep prayer and a desire to reach the unreached people of Nepal with the gospel of Jesus Christ. What started as a spiritual burden turned into a God-ordained mission.
Humble Beginnings — July 31, 2010
On 31st July 2010, in the heart of Kathmandu, a small group of believers gathered in unity and faith, marking the birth of Samdan Baptist Church. Without a permanent location, the early church met from house to house — much like the apostolic church of the first century. This mobile fellowship continued for a full year, strengthening bonds of faith and community.
God’s Provision — A Place to Call Home
Despite limited resources and many challenges, the Lord faithfully provided. The church constructed a modest building on rented land in Gongabu, Kathmandu — our first official place of worship. This small sanctuary became a beacon of hope for many.
Growing in Grace and Number
From its early days, Samdan Baptist Church has grown both in number and in spiritual depth. What began as a small gathering now includes vibrant ministries, weekly fellowships, and growing congregations in Baneshwor, Bhaktapur, and Khotang. The church continues to flourish under God’s guidance, reaching hundreds with the transforming message of Christ.
Continuing the Mission
Today, we remain committed to our original calling — to preach the gospel, make disciples, and serve in love. Samdan Baptist Church stands not only as a place of worship but as a living testimony of God’s faithfulness, grace, and power to build His church.
